PC-CARE
Supporting Keiki & Strengthening Families
Helping Families Thrive
PC-CARE is a 7-week trauma-informed intervention that supports children and families. Adapted from Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), PC-CARE helps caregivers and keiki strengthen their relationships, decrease difficult or disruptive behaviors, and learn calming and co-regulation strategies.
We work with keiki all ages and a wide range of caregivers, including biological parents, adoptive parents, hanai parents, RCGs, and TFH families. Use the button below to schedule a free consultation today to see if PC-CARE is the right fit.
What Makes PC-CARE Different?
If you’ve ever taken a parenting class, you likely learned some great strategies that made so much sense during the class. You leave class feeling empowered and ready to make positive change at home. You start trying the new skills only to realize your child isn’t responding to them. Or maybe your child says or does something that the class didn’t prepare you for. You might feel frustrated or discouraged, wondering if the skills can REALLY work for you and your family.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. And it’s certainly not your fault. With PC-CARE, we won’t leave you hanging, wondering how to navigate difficult behaviors with your child.
Instead, we will practice together live, during session. After learning skills, you’ll spend time playing with your child while your therapist coaches you to practice the skills you just learned. Together, we’ll see what works for you and your child and problem solve what isn’t working.
Is this the right service for me?
Who PC-CARE Is For
PC‑CARE is ideal for caregivers of children of all ages who want more effective strategies, clearer routines, and a stronger connection with their child. It’s especially helpful for families navigating behavioral challenges or stress at home.
Sessions take place virtually which allows us to see your child in their natural environment. Having a stable internet connection will ensure that sessions can run smoothly.

PC-CARE Outcome Data
Data shows that families who complete PC-CARE communicate more positively with each other and see improved behaviors after just 7 weeks. Additionally, families report an average of three fewer trauma symptoms at session 6.
Parents have more positive interactions with their children
PC-CARE therapists track positive communication skills (PRIDE) and avoid statements during a weekly 4-minute observation. On average, parents double their use of positive communication statements while avoids are cut in half.
Parents report that their child’s behaviors are more manageable
Each week, parents complete a behavior measure where they rate the severity of 9 challenging behaviors over the past 7 days. On average, families report high levels of difficult behaviors. However, after just 7 weeks, behaviors are typically below the clinical cutoff range.
